Oak Foundation “Reaching all learners” Fellowship

In the summer of 2018 I was thrilled to be awarded a Oak Foundation “Reaching all learners” Fellowship. The Oak Foundation uses its resources to address issues of global, social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged.

The fellowship involves learning together with a community of teachers from around the world to dig deeply into a study of metacognition and how it relates to building agency and awareness for teachers and students to increase the opportunity for all learners to reach their personal goals and ultimately create a better world for themselves and all of us. I will also be exploring the frameworks of Universal Design for Learning and Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy to enrich our endeavours in creating more inclusive environments for all learners.

Through shared learning loops and a community visit to classrooms in Mexico, I will be working towards a case study project and a professional development activity that can be shared with my school and the Teach for All network. I am excited to be working on this over the coming months and look forward to sharing the outcomes of the project at the start of 2019.
