Having taught Science and Physics for six years I have a real love of teaching students how the world around them works and how to explain the phenomena that they encounter. I have experience working in both state and independent schools in London, U.K.
Through my professional practice I have observed that many of the talented girls and young women that I have taught are interested and engaged with ideas to do with Physics and Engineering, as well as being very capable at achieving highly in these subjects. This does not translate to them studying Physics for A Level, an outcome which is replicated nationally.
This has led me to work on a number of projects that look at how gender intersects with Science learning, and implement actions that start work on tackling this problem. Some of these projects are outlined below.
